EMERA Cañaveral Nursing Home

EMERA Cañaveral is located in a residential area noted for its accessibility and green surroundings. The building comprises a ground floor plus four additional levels, each designed with a predominant colour scheme. This colour-coding system assists residents in easily identifying their respective floors.
The ground floor houses the Special Care Unit, occupational therapy, a hair salon, a chapel, and a multi-purpose room, as well as the rehabilitation area, administrative offices, the nursing unit, and the medical and psychology departments. The DayCare Center is also located on this level, maintaining the same aesthetic language as the rest of the nursing home.
Both the ground and first floors are designed with a special vintage decoration for the most vulnerable residents, seeking to recall their childhood, offering a very friendly design both in vinyl wallpapers and in furniture according to their needs.
The fourth floor is also noteworthy, designed for more independent residents; it features individual rooms, a social club, and a large terrace for their use and the enjoyment of the surroundings.
The interior design seeks to provide great warmth, with the combination of wood with textile-finish melamines, and warm yet very bright colours. The concept is inspired by the ancient cañadas (drover roads) of Madrid -their shepherds, flocks, pines, holm oaks, and oak groves- incorporating textiles such as wool with a bespoke plaid pattern, and wood finishes inspired by traditional woodworking tools.
Each piece of furniture has been selected not only for its aesthetic value but also for its functionality, accessibility, and ease of maintenance. The studio has designed and participated in the selection of materials, equipment, and styling, ensuring criteria of accessibility, durability, and ease of maintenance, alongside a highly attractive and peaceful aesthetic.
