MELIÁ COSTA ATLANTIS TENERIFE

REQUENA Y PLAZA was commissioned for the renovation project of the Hotel Meliá Costa Atlantis Tenerife. The studio’s design reinterprets the property's identity with a fresh perspective, drawing inspiration from colonial style and a deep respect for the island’s unique natural surroundings.
The renovation covers standard rooms, "The Level" rooms, and the hotel's common areas, aiming to enhance the guest experience through a sensory, elegant design deeply connected to Tenerife's history and landscape. The project's language is based on "local nature and vegetation, the tropical feel of the north of the island, colonial mansions, and the sea" as its identity pillars, creating harmonious spaces that invite rest and relaxation.
The blue of the Atlantic, the greys and blacks of volcanic sand, and the green of the lush Orotava Valley vegetation are the chromatic lines that have set the stylistic tone. The architectural elegance of the area, with its typical colonial houses, completes the palette of inspiration.
The creativity sparked by the colonial image of Canarian mansions has led to the use of various natural fibres paired with deep greens and abundant natural greenery. Walnut-toned woods are also featured, combined with fabrics in rich and elegant finishes. All this achieves a classic and comfortable aesthetic—vintage yet contemporary.
In the reception and lobby area, the main intervention has been the creation of a lobby bar that energises the space, establishing a focal point for the entire hotel. It serves as the lobby's centrepiece and the primary highlight of the renovated hotel.
Similarly, a new reception has been designed for "The Level" guests, who will enjoy exclusive access to the new "The Level Lounge." Located adjacent to the main reception and lobby, it has been conceived as a haven of elegance and tranquillity.
The renovation of the dining area has been another key piece of the project. The buffet has been updated, becoming a brighter and more comfortable space. Its design follows the same aesthetic as the rest of the hotel but uses lighter tones to enhance the feeling of natural light, while emphasising the terrace for breakfast or dinner by the garden and pool.
Finally, the "pool bar" has been completely renovated to become an oasis of relaxation facing the pool, surrounded by sun loungers. Its design seeks to integrate the furniture with the landscape using sun- and water-resistant materials, maintaining the warm and natural approach of the rest of the hotel.
